Treatment Programme

My Starter Lawn Care Treatment Programme delivers a Spring or pre-season lawn feed fertiliser followed by a selective weedkiller spray four to six weeks later to reduce the number weeds in your lawn. My Spring/pre-season fertiliser releases its nutrients into the lawn over three months, then after those three months, I return and apply a Summer Fertiliser which is specially formulated to make your lawn look great just at the time you are likely to use and view your lawn the most.

I will make three visits to your home. During my first visit I shall apply a specially formulated slow release Spring Fertiliser, which over a period of about three months will release nutrients into your lawn helping to build strong roots and healthy green leaves.

About four to six weeks after my first visit, I will make my second visit and spray a liquid selective weedkiller on your lawn that will kill weeds not your grass. I wait this amount of time to allow the weeds to also benefit from the lawn fertiliser I applied, as for best results, I actually want the weeds to be actively growing and have healthy leaves. This is because the Professional Selective Weedkiller I use when applied with a pressure sprayer, is designed to be absorbed through the leaves of weeds and then drawn down into the roots where it effectively kills the whole weed. The weed and any remaining weedkiller then naturally bio-degrades into the soil. This is unlike many weedkillers you can buy from a garden centre which appear to kill weeds quickly by turning the leaves brown, but often leaves the roots intact, allowing the weed to recover and re-emerge a few weeks later.

Because I want the leaves of the weeds to be healthy and intact, I will need to time my visit so that the lawn hasn't been cut within the previous seven days. If you are a regular grass cutting customer, I will take care of the timing for you. If you cut your own grass, I will need to coordinate the date of my visit with you. The lawn will also need to be dry for best results, with no rain forecast for at least six hours after application. As such, I will normally arrange a 'back up' date with you just in case the weather isn't suitable.

Then, depending on the timing of your Spring Fertiliser application, I will make a third visit to you around June/July to apply my Summer Fertiliser, which is specially formulated to give your lawn everything it needs to look great just at the time you are likely to use and view your lawn the most.

The application of both a Spring and a separate Summer Fertiliser helps ensure that your lawn receives the right amount of essential nutrients it needs throughout the whole of the main growing season.
